The Ladies section at Orchardleigh Golf Club recently held a fun version of the Solheim Cup.
The club reports, “Twenty-two ladies took part in the two day competition. The first round should have been played in two sections, a front nine of Foursomes and a back nine of 4BBB but the persistent rain that day curtailed the competition into just nine holes of Foursomes and at that stage the Europe team were ahead on a score of 3 and the USA team on 2.
“On the second day the sun shone, so 18 holes of match play took place, allowing the Europe team to extend their lead, achieving a convincing win over the USA team. The final score was Europe 12 USA 4.
“After play on the second day the ladies enjoyed a good lunch and the trophy was presented to Carol Marquiss as captain of the Europe team.
“The Orchardleigh Ladies recently played in the first round of the Rogers Cup. They were drawn against Saltford at Stockwood Vale. It was a close match but unfortunately lost with a score of 3 to Saltford’s 4.”
