ORCHARDLEIGH Golf Club has broken their own fundraising record and presented the men’s prostate cancer charity with a cheque for £10,350
The total was raised by the members of the golf club with the bulk coming from a charity golf day held in August last year, but also from donations, raffles and competitions throughout 2013.
Orchardleigh Club captain Dave Jukes presented the cheque to Sam Viera who received the donation on behalf of the Prostate Cancer charity. Anne Regler from the golf club said, “The sum of over £10,350 was most unexpected as it is the most money we have ever raised for charity.
“Sam from the charity was over whelmed by the donation as they don’t usually get sums of this amount. The donation will partly go for research, but mainly going to help set up centres all over the country to co-ordinate nursing care where it’s needed.”
The presentation was made at the ladies section Christmas lunch. Barry Stevenson was also presented with a car thanks to a hole-in-one on the 10th during the charity golf day.
