Orchardleigh Golf Club ladies section have recently hosted the Somerset County Seniors Ladies Golf Association (SCSLGA) spring meeting with a Pairs Better Ball competition.
Forty pairs from various Somerset clubs took part. including eight pairs from Orchardleigh. The recent fine, dry weather has made for good course conditions and scoring. The winning score of 40 stableford points was brought in by two Orchardliegh ladies Anne Regler and Sue Sweet. Ann McRae and Angela Baker (Long Sutton) had 39 points; Loes de Kleuver and Lorraine Collings (Orchardleigh) and Margaret Hawker and Margaret Allen (The Mendip) both had 38 pts.
Some other recent competitions held by the Orchardleigh Ladies section include the Keysell Cup which was won by Kate Chadwick with an excellent score of 43 stableford points, followed by Liz South with 38 pts, Pat Pitt 38 pts and Jackie Pudney with 37 pts. Kate’s score reduced her handicap from 25 to 22. Quite an achievement.
The Barwell Masters was won by Anne Regler with a score of nett 73, Loes de Kleuver was second with 74 followed by Marion Underhill 75 and Veronica Cherry 78.
The Coronation Foursomes was won by Loes de Kleuver and Liz South with 41 points. They will go through to the area final to be played at Sherborne Golf Club in July.
