CANCER counselling charity We Hear You (WHY) are once again offering WHYoutdoors, nature connection for wellbeing, in Bath and Evercreech this October
The planned course for June 2020 went ahead via Zoom, with considerable success, but the charity is delighted to be able to return to an outdoor group setting for the October course.
WHY are also offering anyone affected by cancer a further opportunity to access WHYbemindful, a mindfulness course facilitated by Chris Barker of the University of Exeter and specifically designed for people living with and beyond a cancer diagnosis. The mindfulness course will run over Zoom, alongside We Hear You’s one-to-one counselling service and Covid-19 telephone support service, which continue to run remotely.
Course organiser and WHY counsellor Barbara Gonzalez says, “We are very pleased to be able to run WHYoutdoors again, offering an opportunity to explore the benefits of nature connection for people living with and beyond cancer. The taster day on 19th August filled up in just two days, although we are running a waiting list. Many thanks to Combe Grove Manor Hotel and Chesterblade Hills for their generous support and use of their lovely settings.
“This practical, interactive six-week course has been designed by Bristol-based Natural Academy and will be facilitated by experienced and qualified WHY therapists. We’ll explore techniques for grounding using our natural environment and ways that we can foster mindfulness and nature connection to improve wellbeing. The workshop will involve walking around woodland and other natural settings, with uneven ground, so participants will need to have a reasonable level of fitness to take part.”
WHYoutdoors is a six week course. In Bath, at the beautiful Combe Grove it starts on Wednesday 6th October from 10am to 3pm. The course at Chesterblade Hills, near Evercreech, will run weekly for 6 weeks starting Thursday 7th October also from 10am to 3pm.
WHYbemindful runs weekly on Thursdays from 1st October until 26th November, with no session on 29th October.
