Club secretary at Frome Town Youth FC, Sarah Davis, won the award for Outstanding Contribution to Community Football at this year’s Somerset Football Association County Awards evening.
The ceremony which took place at Somerset County Cricket Ground, Taunton on 28th July, is an opportunity for Somerset FA to recognise and reward outstanding contribution and achievement to football from leagues, clubs and their volunteers within Somerset over the last 12 months.
Sarah Davis told the Frome Times, “I really didn’t expect to win that award. I knew I had won an award but they didn’t tell me which one. I was so shocked when it got to the end and they called my name out for ‘Outstanding Contribution. There are so many other people that have been doing it a lot longer than me, so it’s incredibly humbling.
“My husband put it on Facebook and I’ve had some really lovely comments from people saying it’s well deserved.
“Part of the award included tickets to watch the FA Community Shield at Wembley on 2nd August. My daughter Emma, Ali Longstaff (a Chelsea fan) and myself went and had a great day out.”
Sarah’s nomination came from a member of the public and they wrote to the Somerset FA saying, “Sarah lives and breathes football and is an instrumental figure at Frome Town JFC and the local community.”
