YEAR 10 students at Frome College have received awards in the worldwide Olympiad Biology Competition.
Head of Science Peter Jones said, “This year, 26,828 students from 348 schools worldwide took part in the Year 10 Olympiad Biology Competition. The challenge was based on the results of two tests which took place on different days, and it was much harder this year to get a reward as the boundaries have increased by 5% a bracket. We have amazing results – over 50% of our students who took part received awards, which means they are all in the top 46% who took part overall! From this, 8 students received Highly Commended, and 13 were rewarded with Commended.
“A special well done to our two Silver medalists – Lilith Whitelaw and Gareth Everton, and five Bronze – Nicolaas Galbreath, Ronnie Downes, Jess McAlpine, Oscar Wilson, and Ted Lewis-Clark. Only 5% of these awards are handed out in each category a year. Well done to all who have taken part, we look forward to your continued success in biology.”
