Concerns have been raised by parents over the lack of hygiene and cleanliness of the toilets at Frome College.
Complaints from students describe the toilets as ‘disgusting’ and note that some do not have toilet seats.
Some students are reportedly avoiding the facilities all day, instead using the Sixth Form toilets as an alternative, which they say are clean.
However, parents say their children are receiving detentions for using the Sixth Form toilets, despite reporting the issues in their own section of the school.
One parent told the Frome Times they complained to the college last November about the toilets and received email correspondence from the Clerk to Governors stating the Principal and Senior Leadership team held a meeting on 27th November and were ‘satisfied that the college were aware of the issues and are working to resolve them.’
The parent said the college are ‘still not listening.’ She added, “Frome College toilets are disgusting and children are holding themselves. We have reported it to the school so many times but they are just not listening.”
Another parent is urging people to report complaints to the school governors. On Facebook they said, “I know it must be hard as a school to keep on top of the damage but it still doesn’t make it right that our children dread using the toilets or find it hard to find one of late in a timely manner during their breaks.”
A Frome College spokesperson said, “Frome College is aware of recent comments regarding the student toilet facilities and takes these concerns seriously. The cleanliness and upkeep of our facilities are a priority and staff work hard to maintain standards across all areas, including student toilets.
“We are currently reviewing the feedback received to ensure that any specific issues are addressed promptly.”
