Parkinson’s Bath & District Branch is the local branch in the Bath & North East Somerset areas.
Robin Tanner, chairman of Bath & District Branch said, “Every hour someone in the UK is told they have Parkinson’s. Because we are here, no one has to face Parkinson’s alone.
“Parkinson’s is a degenerative neurological condition and as yet there is no cure. For some people having Parkinson’s can be a frustrating and isolating experience.
“We offer fair and equal access to a wide range of support and social activities across our region, for the people affected by Parkinson’s. We have support groups where you can come face to face with your local Parkinson’s information and support worker, helping to improve services in the area. We work with other organisations to give you a broad view of services available to you.
“If you have Parkinson’s, or know someone who has, particularly if you have recently been diagnosed with this disease, you will probably have many questions and major worries.
“Come along to our first meeting in Frome at the Cheese & Grain (Room 1) 10.00am to 12.00noon on Friday 10th April.
“We will also be promoting Parkinson’s Awareness in the Antrim at Frome Medical Centre on Friday 24th April with the theme ‘Shaping the Future’ where we will be identifying key criteria about:
• What support people affected by Parkinson’s need in their local area • What activities should be happening • What challenges need to be overcome.
“It’s a campaign to make your community ‘Parkinson’s friendly’.
