MEMBERS of The Pod Charity have been celebrating the launch of their uplifting new book, Hopes and Dreams.
The book showcases the dreams and aspirations of Pod members, demonstrating their resilience in the face of life’s challenges. To mark the occasion, the charity hosted a launch party on Monday 25th November, attended by members, families, staff and special guest Cllr Fiona Barrows, representing the mayor.
“Cllr Fiona Barrows was moved by the enthusiasm and creativity within the members and congratulated everyone on their achievements as authors,” explained project development manager Becky Bird.
2024 has been a milestone year for The Pod Charity, which recently celebrated its 10th anniversary.
Becky said, “This book celebrates the charity’s 10th anniversary and the remarkable growth of the charity over the years.”
The book has been written and illustrated by project members from Pod Plus, Pod Youth Club, and the Zone Young Carers group using materials from The Pod Scrapstore.
“This could not have happened without the support and collaboration of author and publisher Jenna Herman, who came into projects to inspire and coordinate the project, giving her time for free,” said Becky.
Hopes and Dreams is on sale at Hunting Raven Bookshop for £6, with every penny going towards supporting Pod projects and development.
“We are so proud of our members for creating this wonderful book,” said Becky. “Along with our community, the charity has hopes and dreams for the future. To create a place where we can bring more opportunities for fun, friendship, experiences, and learning to Frome. By buying this book, you will be supporting us to achieve this dream.”
The charity, based in Frome, is dedicated to creating social groups, opportunities, and enriching experiences for people with additional needs, young carers and their families.
