LOCAL police are appealing for witnesses to an assault on two boys in Frome.
The incident occurred on Monday 9th May and police have said that they are taking the matter seriously and that an investigation is underway.
The Frome Neighbourhood Policing team say, “The assaults happened close to Welshmill play park at about 3.30pm on Monday 9th May. A member of the public called us at the time and officers attended.
“Officers first and foremost checked on the victims’ welfare before making sure the boys were with family who could take them home safely.
“We are already aware video footage has been uploaded on social media. Enquiries are ongoing to identify those responsible for these assaults and appropriate action will be taken.
“For further reassurance, the local neighbourhood team is planning extra high-visibility patrol in the area. Those officers will be happy to stop and speak with anyone who has concerns about this incident.
“We’d please ask anyone who witnessed the assaults and has not yet spoken to police to call 101 and give reference number 5222109515.”
