The Pop-up Winter Cafe at the Key Centre is holding two more events before it officially closes after a successful season.
The cafe launched at the start of December and has served over 1,000 hot lunches and run activities for the community. The cafe is open to everyone; the food is free with some people giving donations.
To end the season in style, the team is hosting Story Saturday on 24th January and a big community feast on Saturday 31st.
“We have served over 1,000 bowls of hearty food to the local community since opening at the start of December,” said Tom Spencer, director of Terrestrial, which runs the initiative.
“Every day there are different activities, from gentle crafts to after-school discos. The cafe was only ever designed to be temporary. The project is funded by Somerset Community Foundation’s Help Through Winter scheme.
“Terrestrial has a busy schedule of other arts projects with schools and charities around the southwest, and the building will be transformed back into a much-needed nursery. But Frome Town Council are working with local groups to ensure that elements of the cafe can remain at The Key Centre.”
The Pop-Up Winter Cafe at the Key Centre on Feltham Lane is open Monday to Friday, 10.30am to 4.30pm (closes 2.30pm Fridays) and is open to everyone.
