A SPECIAL prayer for reconciliation and peace will be said every Friday at noon in December.
In November 1940 Coventry Cathedral was destroyed by enemy action. Six weeks later, Provost Richard Howard had the words ‘Father Forgive’ inscribed on the wall of the ruined cathedral. He also said on national radio that once the war was over, his vision was to work with those who had been enemies ‘to build a kinder, more Christ-Child-like world’.
Eighteen years later, Canon Joseph Poole, first precentor of the new Coventry Cathedral, wrote a short prayer, a litany of Reconciliation. It takes only one minute to say.
This prayer is said every Friday at noon in the ruins of the old cathedral, and in other places round the world, because sadly, the world still needs peace and reconciliation.
If you would like to join in this special prayer, Christ Church Frome will be open at 12noon every Friday in December. The dates are 1st, 8th, 15th, 22nd and 29th December. Everyone is welcome.
