COUNTY councillors, Maggy Daniels and Alvin Horsefall recently presented a cheque for £5,000 from the Somerset County Council Community Enablement Fund to the Frome PACE group (Personal Achievement and Creative Experience).
The group has recently become independent, having previously been run through the county council. The funds will enable the group to develop a range of activities available for people with disabilities.
The PACE group meets every Thursday at Gorehedge Community Room in Frome from 10.00am – 3.30pm. Clive, one of the members said, “The group provides me with a chance to get out and be with other people. Often people with disabilities feel very isolated and alone, and those who care for us need a break from their caring role. We have a great day full of laughter and fun, share ideas and learn new skills.”
Anyone who might be interested in finding out about how to join the PACE group or would like further information can contact Carol Harper on 01373 812890 or email: pace frome@hotmail.co.uk
