FROME’S Christchurch C of E First school have been preparing for the town’s lantern parade and Christmas lights switch on, in a lantern making workshop that took place at the school on Monday 17th October.
This year’s lantern parade and Christmas lights switch-on event will be taking place on Friday 25th November and pupils at the school took part in a workshop to make lanterns that can be used on the night, to parade from the top of Bath Street down to the Market Place.
Speaking about the success of the lantern-making workshop, where children made lanterns out of willow, rice paper and rice glue, a spokesperson from the school said, “The workshop went really well and all the children enjoyed doing it. We’ve had about 20 children come forward who would like to meet on the evening to parade the lanterns through the town. It was really successful!”
