PURPLE Elephant has looked back on what has been a busy year for the local family support charity.
Through their dedicated services, the charity has:
- Supported the wellbeing of eight children through its befriending service
- Supported 13 pre-school families with parenting challenges, at two weekly support groups and through 1:1 work
- Run 35 whole-family school holiday activity sessions, including summer trips away and Christmas parties, with meals from Fair Frome for 200+ people
- Given 140 free tickets to Christmas theatre shows
- Delivered the Frome Children’s Festival to around 3,000 people, designed alongside young people using their chosen theme of climate change
- Supported over 50 families at twice weekly play sessions, plus play loans from the Toy Library,
- Contributed to local forums and groups working to improve the quality of life of local families,
- Welcomed two new trustees to help run our charity
- Secured a substantial grant through the National Lottery Community Fund.
Trustee Bob Ashford said, “We are especially proud of our support for young families through our expanding early-years services, enabling them to flourish in circumstances that continue to be challenging post-pandemic and in the current cost of living crisis.
“We are extremely grateful to all our volunteers, without whom we could not run, as well as to everyone who has donated. In October were blown away by the generosity of those who sponsored runners, Zoe and Radek, in the Bath Half Marathon. 2023 has been hard financially for everyone, including for us as a charity, and we welcome additional sponsorship to that which we gratefully receive from Tall Trees Kindergarten and Dennis Maps, as well as regular individual donations.”
Purple Elephant supports those who are in need, by running a range of free family services. Funders include The National Lottery Community Fund, Frome Town Council, Somerset Community Foundation, Somerset Council, SASP plus the Rotary Clubs, Lions and Inner Wheel.
