RESIDENTS in Frome are being told to be vigilant after a number of sheds were broken into last month.
One resident who would prefer to remain anonymous, is encouraging other residents to check their sheds are secure after his shed was broken into last month.
The resident said, “At least four home-owners, of both newer and older properties, in Little Keyford Lane, on the edge of Frome, had their sheds broken into during the night of 13th/14th February.
Locks were snapped off, timber splintered and other forms of damage caused as the thief (or thieves) forced their way in. In some cases they seemed to know the layout in advance, as they were able to avoid setting off motion sensors and security lights.
“Because this has happened a number of times before in this area, few items of value are left in these sheds and the perpetrator(s) left without taking much. The nuisance value of having to replace damaged locks and openings should not be under-estimated, however. For this reason other Frome homeowners who have sheds would do well to review their security arrangements.
“The police have been informed and will be conducting investigations into this spate of burglaries. Similar outbreaks in the past have resulted in offenders being arrested and convicted.”
