Moonraker Winter League Division 1. Frome Diamonds 48 Team Doris 24
WITH Frome Diamonds in third place in the league and Doris in second, the Frome players were most surprised when they came away with a resounding win.
The Doris keeper got penalised for contact in the shooting circle and Ginny and Ness, cashed in scoring at will. They led at quarter time by 11 goals to 3 and then piled on the pressure in the second quarter and amassed a lead of 28 goals to 7. The Diamonds dominated with Emily and Alice picking out passes into the shooting circle and then converting this turnover ball into attack.
By half time, the team started to relax as they knew the game had been won. In the third quarter Doris improved but Kirsty Townsend put in a fine defensive display coupled with Meg Young who as always led from the front.
Ginny picked up Player of the Match and Players’ Player for a splendid shooting display, where she had one of those matches when she just could not miss. Diamonds continued attacking in the last quarter and Doris seemed bemused as to the quality of Frome’s passing, shooting and defensive display. A great team performance from Frome and a great victory, a testament to the hard work put in by the players and coaches.
