THE Whittox Gallery at RISE has announced their next exhibition, Light Water Rebellions, a solo show by painter Robin Sewell.
Robin Sewell was born in 1951 in Yorkshire and educated in Leeds, then Cardiff and the Slade School of Fine Art, London. He was a senior lecturer in BA Fine Art at Maidstone College and University of the Creative Arts in Canterbury between 1980–2012 and had studios in London and Umbria, Italy, until moving to Wiltshire in 2016 where he now lives and works.
Since being in the West of England, he has worked as a curator for the Wells Art Contemporary in the Bishops Palace and Wells Cathedral, instigating and curating installations within the cathedral and its grounds in 2019 and 27 installations in 2021. In June he had a solo exhibition with Andelli Art named ARRIVALS and has shown all over this country and abroad. His paintings are in collections internationally.
The Whittox Gallery showcases contemporary art and is in the heights of RISE, a former church built in the early 1800s that has now been lovingly transformed into a cultural, lifestyle and community venue in the centre of Frome. Within the beautifully restored building, you will also find The Whittox Gallery’s shop and the Rye Bakery café.
The exhibition runs from Saturday 17th September to Sunday 6th November. A private viewing is being held on Friday 16th September from 6.30pm until 9pm, all are welcome to join.
