AT a time when live music experiences are virtually impossible to come by, Rocktopus, Frome’s family friendly rock band, have found a way to reach out and engage with fans in the virtual world.
‘Rocktopus Live Online’ will be broadcast for the first time on Friday 6th November at 4.15pm from their Facebook page and will be a chance for fans to be entertained by and interact with the band.
“Inspiring children to get involved with music is at the heart of what we do,” said Tom from the band, “Although we have two albums on Spotify for children and families to listen to, we’re currently unable to put on live shows or go into schools due to Covid-19.”
“We needed to find another way to actually interact with our fans,” said Andy from the band. “The great thing about Rocktopus Live Online, is that it’s not just the usual passive watching experience. The children will be totally involved in the show, being able to choose songs, join in with dance moves, ask questions, share jokes, share their talents and even help write new songs live on air. It’s going to be just like the old Saturday morning kids’ TV – only better!”
Rocktopus have written over 500 songs with children in schools all over the country and now have a huge fan base. The band’s notorious live show has been a great success in prestigious venues in Bath, Bristol, Trowbridge and Frome and, as a result, many of their fans are here in the South West.
The band aim to reach out to their existing fans, as well as spread their positive influence far and wide to a new audience with the new online show. There will be competitions every week where members of the fan club can win T-shirts, CDs, badges and even limited edition hand made Rocktopus mugs and bowls made by local potter, Emma Chapman. The big prizes, which everyone has their eye on however, are the Rocktopus drum kit and the Rocktopus electric guitar and amp!
“When we’re performing in schools and at gigs, the children always want to play our musical instruments,” said Tom. “It’s exciting to have the opportunity to give away a quality drum kit and electric guitar to our fans. We hope to have even more musical prizes as the weeks go on.”
“This show is just one aspect of our new Rocktopus media production company,” said Andy, “watch out for more awesome music videos and video content made with and for children over the coming months.”
If you’d like to inspire your children with awesome live music, dance moves, jokes, fun facts, music making with the band, phone ins, happy birthday and wobbly tooth shout outs, video and artwork submissions, and to be in with a chance of winning some amazing prizes – tune in to Rocktopus Live Online every Friday at 4:15pm (starting November 6th) and, who knows, you could be a competition winner!
