Three local charities have benefited from money raised by Frome Voices’ recent performance of Carmina Burana at the Cheese and Grain.
Over 150 singers and musicians came together for an evening of roof-raising sound, and the organisers were delighted that the sell-out concert raised £1,200. The money has been equally divided between Jackdaws Music Education Trust, Fair Frome and Mama Upendo Children’s Trust.
Jackdaws is well known for its very successful projects involving young people in musical experiences. Fair Frome is planning to use the donation to develop its plans for a community furniture project and Mama Upendo, based in Frome, supports an orphanage and school for children in Kenya.
Frome Voices goes from strength to strength and has now raised over £5,000 for local charities. Plans are afoot for another performance next Spring – so watch this space for details.
