Three new goalposts have been installed at Frome Town United Football Club, thanks to support from two Rotary clubs in Frome.
The new goalposts have been jointly funded by the Football Foundation, along with donations from the Rotary Club of Frome and Frome Town Rotary Clubs, to support access to football for the club’s youngest players, aged 12 and under, across 19 teams, including three girls-only teams.
Frome Town United Chairperson Shaun White said, “We’re hugely grateful to the Frome Rotary Clubs for their generosity. These new goals will directly benefit hundreds of children, especially our younger age groups, and help us continue to grow inclusive football for boys and girls across the town.”
President of the Frome Town Club, Gary Griffiths, said, “Rotary’s mission is to make a positive difference locally and globally, and helping to improve sporting opportunities for our youth is a perfect example of that in action.”
President of the Rotary Club of Frome, Richard Lines, said, “We are delighted to support Frome Town United and the incredible work they do with young people in our community.”
Frome Town United continues to grow as one of the region’s most inclusive and community-focused grassroots football clubs. The club has 39 teams affiliated with the FA, made up of a mix of boys’, mixed and girls-only squads, five of which are dedicated to girls-only football.
Across these teams, more than 700 children are already registered to play, with additional players taking part in Wildcats sessions for girls aged 10 and under, and Kids Club for reception-age and younger children. The club has also recently launched a disability football programme, creating a dedicated pathway for children who require additional support and attention – ensuring that every child in Frome who wants to play football has the opportunity to do so.
