Frome 1st XI beat North Perrott 1st XI by 111 runs. Frome 1st XI: 216-7 (40 overs) North Perrott 1st XI: 105 all out (29.1 overs)
Paul Sanger and Robin Lett scored half-centuries on the opening day of the season to guide Frome 1st XI to victory following their promotion to Premier 2.
North Perrott won the toss and surprisingly decided to bowl first on what looked a traditionally flat pitch at Willis Lane. Frome began their innings with little trouble, however a rain delay stopped play with the score on 25.
The match was then reduced to a 40 over match as Sanger and Lett came out firing after the delay, regularly scoring boundaries. Eventually Lett (59) was dismissed by some clever bowling by the Perrott skipper Roswell with the score on 96. North Perrott then began to put a squeeze on the Frome innings, however Sanger and Veal (27) made sure the score kept ticking for the visitors with a 57 run partnership. Sanger was eventually bowled for (67) by the impressive Ogborne as Frome posted 216-7 from their 40 overs, falling just short of maximum batting points.
In reply the reliable Reece Croker picked up a wicket first ball bowling Taylor for 0 leaving the hosts with a mountain to climb. Frome continued to bowl well and take wickets regularly, however Del Bianco (50 not out) was excellent for North Perrott and provided a much needed resistance. Mark Watts was the pick of the Frome bowlers with figures of (3-14) and was backed up by Captain Mark Sanger who picked up two wickets in the middle overs.
Eventually Arthur Harman picked up the final wicket of the innings, bowling North Perrott out for 105 meaning Frome gained two valuable bowling bonus points on the opening day of the campaign.
