THE Frome Lions and Rotary Santa float raised £17,800 with its collections in the run up to Christmas.
The money raised from the float, which was a joint effort by the Frome Lions and Rotary Clubs of Frome, will support local causes. The clubs have thanked people for their generosity.
The clubs say, “This substantial increase in donations at a time of widespread hardship is a magnificent testament to the generosity of the Frome community. The Lions and Rotary Clubs of Frome will put theses donations to good use to support the many deserving causes in and around Frome.
“Frome Lions and Rotary Clubs had a great reception travelling around Frome in the run up to Christmas. Going out on 17 nights, with the odd bit of inclement weather, the reception all around Frome and in the villages was superb. Once again having the new float allowed us to visit extra roads previously inaccessible with the dear old float which makes our trips out even more enjoyable.
