ST Louis Catholic Primary School have their very own orchard within their grounds and at Harvest time, this offers the children the additional opportunity to make their own apple juice. This year, the orchard celebrated another bumper crop!
The school say, “The staff are always keen to make the most of our wonderful orchard and they borrowed an apple presser from Frome Apple Group – who very kindly also picked the apples for us! The children had a go at crunching up the apples, then putting them into the press for beautiful cloudy juice. It tasted just like eating an apple. There are so many apples left over that we are able to share free apples (cooking and eaters) and these are placed by the gates for parents to help themselves.”
Autumn was well and truly in the air at St Louis Catholic Primary School recently when they celebrated their Harvest Festival with a whole school assembly of worship and praise. There was also a collection of non-perishable food items, kindly donated by parents, which were later passed to the Fair Frome project.
