FROME Scout members have thanked the local community after their recent raffle helped raise £1,500 for their upcoming trip to the World Scout Jamboree in South Korea.
Seven scouts – Mathilda, Gill, Jess, Harry, Grace, Juliet, and Sam – have all been selected to represent Somerset at the event, which will be held in August this year and each have been tasked with raising £4,000 to fund the trip.
The scouts say, “We would like to thank everyone who purchased a raffle ticket which has helped us raise the money we each need to help fund the trip and support scouts in poorer countries to be able to take part also.”
Prizes given out in the raffle include: a weekend in an Air BnB in Wiltshire, four tickets to Alton Towers, a family day pass for four to Longleat, a family day pass for four to Center Parcs, oils from Fussels of Rode, a bottle of champagne, a Bayliss and Harding Hamper and even a cricket bat signed by former England cricket coach Andy Flower.
In Summer 2023, more than 40,000 Scouts from all over the world will gather in Korea for the 25th World Scout Jamboree. The World Scout Jamboree is held every four years, each time hosted by a different country. The theme this time is called “Draw your Dream!” and it expresses the desire of Scout Movement members to transform the 25th World Scout Jamboree into their own festival and grow dreams through the event.
