Year 5 pupils from Selwood Academy took part in an Ambassadors for Frome day at the end of term to promote a sense of community, responsibility and environmental stewardship.
“With community at the heart of the school and one of our core Christian values, Selwood chose to put this intrinsic part of school life into action for the day by becoming Ambassadors for Frome,” said head of Key Stage 2 Luci Hooper.
“The pupils engaged in a series of activities including learning how to create an eco-friendly community, carrying out kind acts for the community, learning how to look after and protect wildlife, taking part in a mile run for local charity ‘We Hear You’ and working with Frome Town Council on projects for children and young people.
“The activities enriched the pupils’ understanding of ecological and community issues and also helped foster a sense of pride and responsibility towards Frome.
“The day was fun, memorable and educational. Selwood Academy are confident the pupils will continue making positive contributions to the community and turn into responsible and caring future leaders.”
