Sign up for the first magical Frome Window Wanderland
Window Wanderland is a walking trail to light up our winter, which will be held in Frome, on 23rd, 24th and 25th February 2018.
Imagine walking around your streets at night and seeing your neighbourhood in a whole new light. Window Wanderland is a fun community project that started in Bristol in 2015, with amazing results, and now Frome will host this unique event in next February.
Local resident and co-organiser, Lisa Glass says, “What is it? Window Wanderland invites all residents of Frome to make displays in their windows or gardens that will then form a magical trail, which can be explored by the whole community. What goes into the displays is totally up to you; from a string of fairy lights to a band playing in the living room, from simple to spectacular: as long as it’s family-friendly, anything goes. We also welcome displays in schools, shops, offices and cafés, as we want to light up Frome.
“I first saw a Window Wanderland event in Bishopston in Bristol earlier this year and I think Frome will really enjoy making their own event. I have paired up with Tasmin Head to organise our first Wanderland and we really hope that the people of Frome join in and make this a successful annual event. You can make a display, or just come out on the night and see what other people have done, everyone can participate.
“It’s easy to put your house on the map if you want to make a display, just visit our event page www.windowwanderland. com/event/frome-somerset-2018. See display ideas or find us on Facebook, twitter and Pinterest @window wander, so please spread the word and save the date for this magical event.”
The event was created in 2015 in Bristol by Lucy Reeves, a mum, artist and ‘nosy parker’ who says “Everyone has a playful side to them, they just need an opportunity to show it.
“I wanted to make an event that anyone can participate in and do something different. This brightens up the long winter nights, giving everyone a great excuse to get outdoors. We have seen displays made by schools, grandparents, even pets! It is a proper community event and some roads had almost every house participating, using campervans, top floor windows and even decorating hedges with lights.”
Window Wanderland is an inclusive community event, aimed at bringing everyone together to have fun.
