It’s not long until the fourth annual Frome Window Wanderland, being held Friday 26th February to Monday 1st March, 5.30-9pm each evening, and the organisers are urging local residents to sign up to this free event and put their homes on to their online event map.
They report, “Frome Window Wanderland is a free, fun community event where anyone can make a display in their own window, garden, or vehicle and light it up for others to wander around and enjoy like an open air gallery!
“This year’s event will, naturally, be a little different from previous years because of the Covid-19 pandemic. As current government guidelines stand, we will not be able to deliver our usual workshops, however, we are producing some ‘How To’ and ‘Ideas’ videos to give people guidance on making their window displays. These will be posted on our Facebook and Instagram accounts soon.
“In consultation with Frome Town Council, we have come to the decision that we cannot produce our paper maps either. There will, however, be a downloadable map produced from our sign up page on the Window Wanderland website. This will be available in the days leading up to the event.
“Frome Window Wanderland has always been about community cohesion and combating social isolation at a time of year when people are less likely to be outside, and this year it has become more relevant than ever. However, we will be encouraging people to strictly adhere to social distancing rules and stick to household groups whilst they wander, to ensure this is a Covid safe event.
“The event follows the February half-term break, a great opportunity for those with children to get together over internet chat platforms (such as Zoom) to create your displays with friends.
“Making a display can be as simple as a lounge window with your favourite piece of clothing hanging in it, fairy lights in the garden, a front room disco or your favourite book in the window, it is completely up to you, as long as it’s family friendly!
“It is easy to sign up, just register and put your address on the online map at our page on the Window Wanderland website www.windowwanderland.com/event/frome-2021. You can also find us on Facebook, Twitter and Instagram.
