A LOCAL singer-songwriter recently released her own single in a bid to raise money for a charity close to her heart.
Rode woman Nichola Humpage has released the song ‘Call to You’ to raise money for stillbirth and neonatal death charity SANDS, after her son was stillborn six years ago.
Nichola is a member of acoustic trio The Elusive Bright, who write original songs and released an EP last year. She produced ‘Call to You’ with her friend and band member Mike Taylor.
Nichola said, “In 2009 my son was tragically born sleeping. In the truly horrific months and years that followed I thankfully found the charity SANDS.
“They showed me that I wasn’t alone and that there were so many people who I could talk to who knew exactly how I was feeling.
“Since my son was born I have been trying to raise funds and awareness about what is still very much a taboo subject. So far I’ve raised over £1,500.
“So, sticking with what I know and love, I decided to write a song which was inspired by the birth of my son and the difficultly that anyone who has lost a loved one faces at this festive time of year.
“I truly feel ‘Call to You’ is a beautiful song that tells the story of having a wish granted to spend one more night with a loved one who is no longer with us. I think that the song speaks to anyone who has lost a loved one and that they will hopefully enjoy listening to it as well as contributing to a wonderful cause.”
‘Call to You (feat. Mike Taylor) is available on Amazon, Spotify and iTunes, and all Nichola’s profits will go to SANDS.
