Frome SODA (Society for Disabled Artists) enjoyed its traditional Christmas tea last month, with plenty of cakes, sausage rolls, mince pies and non-alcoholic mulled wine.
The chairman, Clive Irvine Gizzie, welcomed members, volunteers and honoured guests, including Mark Dorrington, the Mayor of Frome, who was paying a return visit to the event, having attended as Deputy Mayor in 2018. Clive thanked everyone for their hard work through the year, resulting in the most successful ever exhibition at the Frome Festival in July.
An extremely challenging quiz, requiring considerable lateral thinking, was delivered by committee member Teresa Fox. Proceedings concluded with an unusual “Secret Santa ” raffle, organised by treasurer Nick Treacy, which ensured all present took home one prize, although no tickets were actually sold. At the end, one prize, a handsome box of chocolates, remained unclaimed and the Mayor agreed to take it to Frome Food Bank, of which he is a trustee, with best wishes from SODA. Chairman Clive wished everyone a very happy and successful 2020.
