SOMERSET Skills & Learning, which provides learning courses for adults, was awarded a ‘Good’ rating in last month’s Ofsted inspection.
The service operates from Frome Community College and the Saxonvale Centre, as well as other locations across the county. They offer both vocational and recreational courses to people aged 16 and over.
The Ofsted report commended the tutors’ ability to plan lessons to suit the needs of individual learners, and said the staff ‘provide particularly good initial advice and guidance to learners, and support those who experience difficulties in learning.’
Marketing manager Ade Bowen said, “We believe we play an important part in the lives of people in Somerset.
“It could be by providing them with a regular opportunity to get out, meet people with a similar interest, or by helping people improve their career prospects. It could even be by giving people the first step on the employment ladder.
“We feel we do a good job at helping and supporting Somerset residents achieve their potential, and it is great that Ofsted agree.”
Somerset Skills & Learning offer courses in subjects ranging from engineering and business skills to languages and breadmaking.
