SOMERSET Wildlife Trust is hosting several exciting talks this year starting next weekend.
On Sunday 15th January, enjoy a wintery walk around Witham Park Woods looking for winter birds and viewing the knock-on effects of Larch disease. 10am-12.30pm.
On Thursday 26th January at St. Catherine’s Church Hall, Park Road, 7.30-9pm, Chris Sperring returns for a lively talk and discussing on the controversial topic of beavers and re-wilding.
On Sunday 19th February, see the signs of spring in Edford Woods. For some our wildlife, mid-February is the time to start the slow wake up to spring; early flowers bloom, birds sing and on a warm day, insects will be buzzing. Join Eve Tigwell for a walk about this lovely Somerset Wildlife Trust reserve.
Bryan Pinchen’s talk on the wildlife of the New Forest – ‘Legs, Wings and Carnivorous Things – Lesser Known Life of the New Forest’ takes place at St. Catherine’s Church Hall on Thursday 23rd February, 7.30-9pm.
On Thursday 30th March, at St. Catherine’s Church Hall on Thursday 23rd February, 7.30-9pm, Alys Laver, WWT Senior Conservation Warden, will outline how the newly-created wetland reserve provides salt water marshes and fresh water wetlands for wading birds and wildfowl; an accessible area for public interest and enjoyment, as well as protecting Steart village from flooding.
Tickets for all the events at St. Catherine’s Church Hall cost £2.50 for adults and £1 for children and students. For more information please contact Mick Ridgard on email mridgard@sky.com or phone 01373 463875
