FROME Lions Club will be putting up its Tree of Remembrance again this year, for local people to sponsor lights in memory of loved ones at Christmas, while raising money for charity.
The Christmas tree will be in place in front of Rook Lane Chapel on Bath Street, beginning with a special ceremony on Wednesday 23rd November.
Frome Lions Club’s Mark Symes says, “The tree and the lights on the tree are there to help you remember your departed loved ones or memorable causes. On Wednesday 23rd November at 6.30pm there will be a public carol service in front of Rook Lane chapel, music by the Frome Town Youth Band, and a short service of dedication given by the Reverend Colin Horn, when the tree will be blessed.”
People can sponsor a light on the tree in memory of a person or cause, in exchange for a recommended £5 donation to the Lions club, which will put the money towards the club’s charity work in Frome.
