Springmead School extend a huge thank you to everyone who donated to Mercy-in-action.
Carol May, on behalf of the school said, “We can report that collectively our children have raised more than ever before!
“Through their sponsored events the children have put the needs of others before themselves, both through the effort they made to ensure each event was a success, and also in having to ask for the promised money from friends and family.”
Allison Todd, Founder of Mercy-in-Action thanked the children and told them how the money will be spent. With such a large sum, Mercy-in-Action will be able to fund two projects for the street children in their care. £1000 will be used to run a three-day camping trip for 189 street children as part of the charity’s summer programme.
Allison reported that this will be a wonderful experience for the children, just playing and enjoying typical camping fun, such as sitting round the campfire and toasting marshmallows.
The remainder of the money will support the cost of attending a local independent boarding school for five new children from Mercy-in-Action’s residential home in Cebu. £1515.90 will pay for their fees, their uniform and their books.
Carol added, “What a fantastic difference this will make to those children, and what a privilege to know that the Springmead community has been able to give this support.”
