To mark the third anniversary of Russia’s full-scale invasion of Ukraine, a gathering will be held at Boyle Cross in Frome on Saturday 22nd February at 2.30pm.
Since the invasion in 2022, Frome has welcomed Ukrainian refugees who have made the town and surrounding villages their home. That summer, a group of local artists launched Artists in Dialogue, a project that connects with Ukrainian artists displaced across Europe or still within Ukraine.
“The project’s key aims were to offer support through the universal language of art and to keep the ongoing war in the public’s consciousness,” explained Karin, speaking on behalf of Artists in Dialogue.
“All of their dialogue takes place on digital platforms, with the support of a much-valued interpreter and translator who is part of Frome’s Ukrainian community.”
Now in its third year, the project is preparing for its latest major exhibition, SOLIDARITY СОЛІДАРНІСТЬ, which will be held at The Station Gallery from Friday 21st February to Saturday 15th March.
Residents are invited to stand in solidarity with Frome’s Ukrainian community and Artists in Dialogue at the Boyle Cross on Saturday 22nd February. Following the gathering, a preview of the SOLIDARITY СОЛІДАРНІСТЬ exhibition will take place at The Station Gallery from 3.30pm to 5pm.
