The first Frome College student-led fundraising fashion show, which was held in March, raised the sum of £456.15 which has now been presented to two charities, Mind South Somerset and We Hear You.
Principal, Emma Reynolds, greeted David Fields from Mind and Gemma Wilkes from WHY (We Hear You), together with two of the students who organised the event. Tiffany Lee and Bethany Woodham in year 13, spoke to the representatives from their chosen charities about the show, the organisation and the preparation involved in leading such a big event. They also discussed the possibilities of supporting or volunteering for the charities in the future.
David Fields said, “I would like to say a big thank you from South Somerset Mind to Tiffany Lee and all those involved in organising the fashion show – we look forward to working with Frome College in the future.“
Gemma Wilkes from WHY said, “Thank you so much to all the students and staff who organised and took part in the fashion show. It is always inspiring to see young people engaging in their local community, as well as using this as an opportunity to fundraise for charity. The money raised from the fashion show for We Hear You will fund five sessions of professional counselling within the local community for people affected by cancer or a life-threatening condition.”
