Summer activities planned for families in Frome

A range of activities are planned for children and families in Frome this summer, with local charity Purple Elephant organising its annual Children’s Festival and a programme of holiday activities.

The Frome Children’s Festival returns on Sunday 19th July from 10am to 2pm, with more than 30 free activities taking place.

Activities include animal petting, den building, arts and crafts, scrapstore, theatre and circus shows, music workshops and accessible sports.

Families are invited to book their free places, with donations welcome where possible, via the Purple Elephant website. A map showing the location of all activities is also available online.

The festival is the start of a busy summer for the charity, which will also provide a programme of holiday activities supporting local families who are facing challenges.

Across the six-week summer break, Purple Elephant will provide 15 activities for up to 200 children from referred families. The sessions include activities such as cooking, bouldering, circus skills workshops, exploring local places and Forest School, with a free meal provided by Fair Frome.

The charity works with local agencies and schools to ensure families who may benefit from its support are aware of the services available. It also welcomes enquiries from families who may need support because of additional needs and disabilities, low income or mental health challenges.

Volunteers are also being sought to help support the charity’s summer activities and wider services. Anyone over the age of 16 who would like to get involved can contact Purple Elephant through its website.
