A summer at the Merlin Theatre has well and truly begun, with packed houses for comedy and drama last month.
This year’s sunny weather has also allowed the ECOS amphitheatre to welcome professional touring theatre companies plus, of course, other exciting forms of entertainment, demonstrating the talents of the town.
A spokesperson for the theatre said, “Audiences and performers have enjoyed a fabulous start to the summer and there’s more to come.
The brilliance of Frome’s home-grown folk will be eminently and gloriously demonstrated again this summer when the town’s own Abba band, known as SOS, take to the open-air theatre for a night of favourite songs on Tuesday 11th July. The Abba-songs band, SOS, is notable for many reasons, including its two female lead singers who are none other than the Merlin theatre’s own director, Claudia Pepler, the blonde-haired Agnetha, and, with the dark hair, Anni-Frid, played by Anne Dimery.
“And as if being a singer was not enough, Anne Dimery is also founder of Kairos theatre company and producer of its new musical theatre play, Richard the Third, taking place at the Merlin on Friday 30th June.
“With the Frome Festival on the horizon and a further 19 events still programmed in for the remainder of the season, this popular local professional community theatre is the place to be for entertainment in Frome.”
