Selwood Academy pupils enjoyed a sporting Friday recently when they were visited by Joseph Hylton (110m hurdles), Grant Fielder (mountain biker) and Julian Golley (triple jump), courtesy of the Superschools Trust.
The organisation aims to inspire young people to become actively involved with sports, whilst also raising money to fund the training of young, talented athletes. Jane Larman from Selwood Academy said, “Thank you to all parents and carers who helped their children with sponsor money.
“Julian and Joseph managed to squeeze a visit to the library into their very busy day. Mrs Hylands talked to them about their favourite books, and like many Selwood pupils, they headed straight for the Diary of a Wimpy Kid, Jaqueline Wilson and Horrible History sections!
“Joseph spoke very fondly about reading Jaqueline Wilson books with his sister when he was younger, but also loved the gruesome stories in Horrible Histories.
“Julian loves reading Diary of a Wimpy Kid with his son, when he gets time in between practising and competing.”
