CHRIST Church in Frome is hosting an event to raise money for Christian Aid’s East Africa Hunger Crisis Appeal following the recent drought in the area, with the event taking place on Saturday 12th November from 9am-9pm.
The fundraising event will be twelve hours of live music, words and silence, with a short prayer on the hour, every hour. People from Frome and district are invited to come along to sing or play an instrument, or read prose or a poem or prayer, to light a candle and sit in silence. Refreshments will be available throughout the day. Organisers say, “It will be a great day!
There will be an exciting variety of music and words all through the 12 hours. Performers include kora player Stefano Vandelli with cellist Chris Hurn, singers Guy Wilson and Anne Bourne, pianists Jon Benger, Paul Feldwick, Margaret Perry and Alan Burgess, baroque recorder player Neil Moore with chamber organ, Oakfield Choir singing part of Morten Lauridsen’s Lux Aeterna, Three Corners, traditional wedding organ music and much more!
“Plus, Amanda Relph (RADA-trained actress) will read the exquisite Oscar Wilde story, “The Selfish Giant”, great for children and adults!
“People can drop in any time and listen, and give a donation to Christian Aid’s East Africa Hunger Crisis Appeal. Refreshments will be available. Please call in to help raise money for people suffering from the worst drought in 40 years in East Africa.
“All we ask is that everyone who comes along donates; even if you can’t afford much, the money to help our fellow humans in East Africa will mount up.
“If anyone would like to get involved by performing, making or serving refreshments, washing-up, shaking a collecting bucket or generally helping, please email annburgess@hotmail.co.uk” The event will take place in Christ Church, Christchurch Street West, Frome, BA11 1EH.
