LOCAL charity, Cats in Distress, has received a financial boost towards their planned expansion this year.
From the charity, Ginny Parratt said, “We’re celebrating after financial experts, Old Mill (Wells office) in 2018 chose us to be their charity of the year.
“Since October 2018, Old Mill have been raising money for us, holding cake sales, (they like cake), book sales, sports day, car boot sales, buying our handmade cat toys and sponsoring our barbecue at our open day, back in May.
“In total they’ve raised £1,678, an amazing amount that will be used towards our planned expansion for 2020. Some of their employees even adopted some of our cats.
“We’re a small charity and for a company like Old Mill to recognise us and support us, we are truly thankful.
“Cats in Distress is run entirely by a team of trustees and volunteers and based in Berkley, Frome. We generally operate in Frome, Bath, Bradford on Avon, Trowbridge, Westbury, Warminster and the surrounding areas. We rescue, care for, and rehome cats and kittens, whether domestic, stray, injured, abandoned or feral.
“Since starting in 2016 we’ve had over 481 cats who we’ve rescued; last year, we had 204 cats, 84 of which were kittens. We currently have 9 cats and 4 kittens still looking for their forever homes.”
