Frome Swimming Club started the season with its first successful meet at Hengrove Bristol on Saturday 24th September.
13 swimmers attended the Aquae Sulis Performance Swimming Club’s early season sprint meet; an anticipated event in the local swimming calendar.
Club volunteer Liz Metcalfe reports, “Frome’s swimmers brought home a hoard of medals as well as 39 personal best times! A fantastic achievement for the club swimmers. One of the youngest swimmers, nine year-old Alisha Freeman won 1st place to take gold in the 50m backstroke. Niamh Ward swam away with five gold medals for 50m fly, backstroke, breaststroke, freestyle and 100m individual medley.
“The placed positions continued for the swimmers with Amy Gordon winning two silvers for her 50m fly and 100m individual medley and a 3rd place bronze for her 50m freestyle. Oliver Saunders gave some great performances whilst swimming his way into three silver placed positions for 50m fly, backstroke and freestyle and added two golds to his tally for 50m back and 100m individual medley.
“Dan Gordon showed commitment to achieve his 2nd place silver for 50m breaststroke and 3rd place bronze for 50m freestyle.
“Increasing the medal count for the club was Gregor Paton who swam his way into a 2nd place silver for 50m breaststroke and 3rd place bronze for his 50m freestyle. Amazing swims from Lily Angell, Charlie Hemmens, Holly Singer, Georgia Wheeler, Lillie Carter, Kallum Angell and Will Carpenter were also congratulated by the club in this fast sprint meet.
