FROME Tennis Club is running a number of charity programmes to help them engage with local community.
The club is offering free or discounted tennis coaching to juniors, age 4 to 18, from low income families, adopted children, through its ‘reaching out scheme’; alongside free membership to the club.
The scheme has recently been extended to include refugees from Ukraine and other countries. It currently has eight children receiving free coaching and club membership.
Half-price club membership is also available via a separate scheme for adults from low-income families, helping families join at a significantly reduced cost.
The club is also exploring offering free tennis for women. The club says, “We are looking at ways to encourage women of all ages to engage in tennis. We have options to provide this for free and would encourage people to reach out if interested.”
The club has also recently partnered with local charity Fair Frome to help raise awareness of their work and encourage its members and the wider tennis community to support them.
The club is also making ‘significant progress’ with construction of its new clubhouse, which they say will help enhance the tennis experience for all players in the local area. The club is planning an opening ceremony on 23rd July.
