The Royal Voluntary Service (RVS) held a special volunteers meeting on Wednesday the 5th June, during Volunteers’ Week, to say a huge thank you for the work they do all year round supporting people in their local community in Somerset and specifically in Frome, Wells and the surrounding villages.
The group said, “We were able to welcome John Forrest from SSAFA who shared the work they do to support individuals who have or continue to work in the services and need some additional support.
“The home library service exists to ensure people who cannot get to the library due to poor health or mobility or caring responsibilities, but enjoy reading ,can still receive library books free of charge by a Royal Voluntary Service volunteer who will choose, deliver and befriend an individual in their own home. We currently have 150 volunteers delivering books to over 380 individuals across Somerset.
“If you would like to know more about volunteering for the home library service or alternatively, receiving the home library service, please contact kirsty.jenssen@royalvolun taryservice.org.uk or tel: 07920 250834.’
