THIS year’s Frome Christmas Lights switch on will take place in the town centre on Friday 2nd December and with local food and drink stalls, live music and entertainment for children, it’s sure to be a fantastic festive evening for all the family.
The fun will kick off at 5pm where there will be a number of food stalls selling locally sourced festive food, posh hot dogs, Christmas dinner, pizza and delicious mulled drinks. The big switch on will take place at 6.45pm.
There will be performances from local musicians such as the Frome Street Bandits and children’s favourite Rocktopus. There will also be free children’s craft activities, a bouldering hut as well as craft activities which will help raise money for local charities.
At 6:15pm, the crowds will gather around the Christmas tree as a candlelight procession will come down Bath Street towards the town centre and Christmas carols will be sung.
Mayor of Frome, Toby Eliot said, “This year’s Christmas Lights switch on event will be a slightly different affair. We’ve listened to the feedback and we taken the decision to have a family focused festive celebration in December to mark the switching on of the Christmas lights.”
Organisers are encouraging people to bring along their own lanterns for the evening and light them when the candlelight procession arrives at the Christmas tree. They suggest electric tea lights are used in the lanterns for health and safety.
