FROME Sport and Fitness, the town’s upgraded state-of-the-art leisure centre, opens today after more than seven months of work and a multi-million pound transformation.
The sports centre on Princess Anne Way opens to the public on Wednesday 1st June and will be welcoming members new and old with open arms.
Manager Sarah Cruwys said, “We are incredibly excited to open our doors to the brand new Frome Sport & Fitness Centre. We are thrilled with the new facilities and think everyone is going to be delighted with the changes.
“The newly re-developed centre offers an enhanced range of facilities for our members, and the centre also offers indoor and outdoor facilities for team sports. There really is something for everyone!
“We know that having access to a high quality fitness centre is important to the community of Frome, and we hope that these new upgraded facilities will encourage more people to enjoy a whole range of sport and fitness activities. We can’t wait to hear what our members think of the centre.”
The new centre boasts a larger and improved fitness suite with the latest equipment, a large soft play area, new classes in two new studios, a dedicated indoor cycling studio, brand new changing facilities and an improved pool area.
Sarah continued, “Fusion Lifestyle is on a mission to make sport and leisure affordable and accessible to all, and we are constantly investing back into our centres to ensure they are the highest standard for the local community.
“Across Fusion sites in 2015, participation levels in sport and physical activity increased by 20% and, in recent years, over £150 million has been provided for the creation and redevelopment of state-of-the-art leisure facilities.”
Renovations began in October last year but were delayed by an unexpected amount of asbestos and problems with pool equipment. The project eventually took twice as long as intended, but Fusion assured members the improvements would be worth the wait.
