A group of entertainers in a local village are preparing to perform their new variety show, raising funds for local causes.
The Woodlanders Variety Show will be back with a completely new show in October, celebrating 49 years. The show will run each evening from 5th to 9th October, with a matinee on Saturday 10th.
As part of their performances, the group donates the profits to Frome causes. This year, they will be supporting Songs for the Memory, a dementia and memory loss singing group; OpenStoryTellers, which supports people with learning disabilities; Wessex MS Therapy Centre, supporting people living with multiple sclerosis; Dogs for Health, which works alongside the community to help reduce social isolation and improve mental health and wellbeing; and Frome Dissenters’ Cemetery, which is in the process of restoring the historic chapel in the cemetery.
Treasurer of The Woodlanders, Sandra Gaisford, said, “Each is a small local charity run on a shoestring and every donation is, therefore, very valuable, sometimes being the difference between continuing their work and being unable to.”
