STUDENTS at Oakfield Academy didn’t let the snow stop them from celebrating World Book Day after the school rescheduled the day for Thursday 8th March.
Staff and pupils dressed up as their favourite book characters to celebrate the annual event to help encourage more people to read.
As well as dressing up, pupils at Oakfield took part in various challenges and competitions with the theme of reading. They competed in the ‘Extreme Reading Challenge’ where they were invited to take a photo of themselves reading a book in an extreme position or place!
They also took part in a ‘Diorama Competition’ where they had to make a scene from their favourite book/story inside a shoe box. There were prizes presented for the winners.
Dawn Warren, Marketing and Administration Officer said, “We held the re-scheduled World Book Day due to the snow storms causing the school to close last week. There were some fabulous costimes, from pupils and staff!
“A Year 7 pupil, Courtney Mill, arrived at the school dressed as Maleficent!”
