SUPERHERO and fantasy fans from across the country enjoyed Frome’s first ever ‘Comic Con’ last month, with organisers hailing the event a huge success.
Local company Norté Promotions organised the inaugural Comic Con event, which took place over 18 venues in Frome.
Russ Ellingham said, “For our very first Comic Con event we would say it was a huge success. Across all the venues, we estimate about 4,000 came along, with people coming from all over the UK.
“Certain areas weren’t as busy as we would have liked but we are not focusing on the negatives, we have learnt what worked well and what didn’t work so well for next year. But saying that, we had some of the biggest names in Cosplay say Frome Comic Con was one of the best they’d ever been too!
“We have had great feedback from the local businesses who were involved. They’ve said they were overwhelmed with the amount of people that visited them on the day. Hopefully it will encourage more people to the area and really put Frome on the map as the place to go!
“It was fantastic to see so many smiley, happy faces around the town all dressed up – it was quite a spectacle to see!
“We will definitely be holding another Comic Con next year and most probably over a whole weekend. With more time to prepare, we can make it much bigger and better than this year.”
