The cast of FMTC Hello Dolly.

WITH less than a month to go now for the eagerly awaited Frome Musical Theatre Company’s spring production of Hello, Dolly! rehearsals are really hotting up with lines now learned, dance steps being polished and characterisations in their final stages of completion.

After their huge success in Sweeney Todd last autumn, the group are delighted that after playing the leads in that production Davey Evans and Teresa Bray have been teamed up together again this time as the romantic roles in the show Cornelius Hackl, a part made famous by Michael Crawford, and Irene Molloy respectively.

The contrast from last autumn to this spring is marked and goes to show what great character actors these two individuals undoubtedly are.

Davey joined the society in 2008 when he played Will Parker in Oklahoma and has since played The Beast in Beauty and the Beast, Sweeney in Sweeney Todd and Jerry in The Full Monty. Davey has also enjoyed playing comedy roles in the society’s pantomimes, Snow White and Jack and the Beanstalk.

Davey has actively been involved in several societies over the past 29 years! His favourite roles including, Kipps in Half a Sixpence and Tony in Copacabana. Davey has wanted to play Cornelius for a long time, and is pleased he gets the opportunity ‘before the parade passes by!’

This is Teresa’s 5th performance with FMTC and the 2nd working under the direction of Martyn Knight. Teresa first stepped onto the stage at the age of seven.

A classically trained soprano Teresa graduated from Bath Spa University in 2007 achieving a BA (Hons) in Music.

She has been fortunate enough to take many leading roles which include Madame Flora in Menotti’s Opera The Medium, Mabel in the Pirates of Penzance, Minnie Faye in Hello Dolly!, Kate McGowan in Titanic, Lily in The Secret Garden, Carrie Pipperidge in Carousel, Yum Yum in Hot Mikado and Madame De La Grande Bouche in Disney’s Beauty and the Beast. But her favourite to date has to be Mrs Lovett in FMTC’s very successful run of Sweeney Todd in October 2013.

Other leading rolls are being played by Dolly Levi – Joanne Plenty; Horace Vandergelder – Andrew Carpenter; Minnie Fay – Nicole Wooldridge; Barnaby Tucker – Ryan Hughes; Ermengarde – Abi Holmes; Ambrose Kemper – Matt Graham; Ernestina – Daisy Mercedes; Rudolph – Norm Langley; Mrs Rose – Cherry Hill; Judge – Ian Jones;Stanley – Kevin Sivell; 1st Waiter – Alex Green; 2nd Waiter – Gary Williams.

Tickets for the show are already on sale and going well so to book yours please contact the Frome Memorial Theatre Box Office in person from 9.30am – 1.00pm Monday – Saturday, by telephone by ringing 01373 462795 or by visiting the theatre website at www.frome   memorialtheatre.org.uk.

The production runs from 13th – 17th May, each night at 7.30pm with one matinée performance on Saturday 17th May at 2.30pm.
